Bill Wano

Bill Wano was born and raised in Leavenworth, Kansas, just outside of Kansas City. His father, Bill, is a retired government police officer of 38 years and a motorcycle mechanic for most of his life. His mother, Carol, made a career out of taking care of Bill and his older brother, Jerry. However, it wasn't beyond her at times to work right along side her husband at the motorcycle shop. She later became involved in selling real estate and eventually opened her own real estate business and school.

Bill's parents always made their sons' education a priority, thus they attended private schools, even though it was a financial burden at times. Bill attended private school from kindergarten through his sophomore year, then transferred to Leavenworth High where he received his high school diploma. Throughout his school years, Bill's parents worked hard to instill a solid work ethic in their sons. Bill worked at a motorcycle shop as a mechanic's apprentice through his grade school years on into high school and eventually was promoted to Parts Manager, although this was not to be his profession of choice. His brother excelled in the field and eventually became Service Manager.

One fateful day, a fire broke out at the shop and completely destroyed all of their tools of the trade. As Jerry's reputation preceded him he quickly found himself in demand as a mechanic working out of his home throughout the rebuild. Not one to sit idle, Bill secured a position at McCormick's Distillery in Weston, Missouri, as a tour guide.

It was during his five years with McCormick's that Bill met some of the most influential people that would inspire him and help mold him into the person he is today. Among those people were Steve Pickman, Public Relations Manager; Jim Hosier, President of McCormick's; and Bob Harness, Art Director. All of these people played a very important role in Bill's life, however, one stood out among the rest: Bob Harness. Bob took Bill under his wing and not only taught him the "ins-and-outs" of the corporate world but also helped him grow in his creativity and in applying and developing his ideas. It wouldn't take long for the two to become such good friends that others referred to them as "two peas in a pod." Bob was also a professional magician. Bill took an interest in that as well and through Bob's wisdom and knowledge, Bill would go on to place second as Kansas City's stage magician of the year (International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 129). He would also be awarded their highest honor "The Sorcerers' Circle". Bob was also a holder of this award. As time went on, McCormick's was sold and the two friends drifted and sadly, their lives took different paths.

It was during his employment at McCormick's that Bill was approached by an "Event" company who noticed his public relation skills and he eventually secured a part-time position with them.

His next evolutionary step was to become a Disc Jockey. Thanks to his father's unwavering support, it wasn't long before he acquired the equipment needed to accomplish this goal. He began a mobile deejay business and quickly expanded it to include company events, private parties, weddings and school functions. A tremendous amount of time went into research and development of the business, not to mention all the money it took to develop the best mobile rig in the business!

In addition to his career as a disc jockey, Bill also pursued the fast-paced profession of selling real-estate. Viewing real-estate as yet another challenge in life, he quickly attained GRI status (Graduate of the Real-estate Institute), which is only awarded to the select few who pursue a higher education in specialized fields such as law, commercial sales, etc. He worked for Re/Max for several years until the deejay industry took-off.

Bill is now the owner of Bill Wano Entertainment. Through experience, hard work, dedication, and the loving support of his wife Tabatha, Bill Wano Entertainment has grown into a successful company that boasts seven of the best rigs money can buy and the greatest family of entertainers in the business. As well as working locally, he personally travels out-of-state several times a year to entertain for corporate events. Through the support of both his personal family and his company family, Bill is continually inspired to take his company to greater levels.

In addition to operating his business, Bill also entertains every weekend as the house deejay for Johnny O'Quigley's in Parkville, Missouri. His dynamic show features deejaying, karaoke, dancing, group interaction and lots of fun!
Currently residing in Gladstone, Missouri, Bill is the proud father of daughter Miranda, and step-children Gregory and Kalen. The "babies", Simba, a Shepherd-Husky mix, and Bella, an AKC registered German Shepherd, make his family complete.
Bills hobbies include reading, specifically in-depth theological studies for which he has an insatiable thirst; he also enjoys cooking (especially on the grill!), playing strategy games and collecting books.
